Artist's Note
This one felt different. The eye carried such a wide range of colours that no background seemed to fit. I tried patterns like in the other pieces, but nothing felt right. So I left it wide open, simple, so the colours could speak for themselves without distraction.
Name: Gaze of the Unseen
They told me never to look into the mirror at night, never to stare too long into my own reflection. But curiosity is a cruel master. The moment my gaze locked onto my own eye, I felt something shift. The colours swirled unnaturally, deep shadows creeping from the edges of my vision. My pupil dilated, but not as it should have—it expanded like a black hole, swallowing light, swallowing reason.
Then it blinked.
Not my eyelid—no, the eye itself. A second lid, something unnatural, something other. The iris fractured, breaking into shifting shards of colour that rippled like liquid glass. My own reflection was no longer my own. A presence lurked behind that gaze, watching me just as I had watched it. And then, with a whisper that clawed at my bones, it said—
"I see you too."
I stumbled back, but the reflection did not. It stood, it smiled, and as the lights flickered, I realized… it was stepping through.
