Description

PsEyeDream #12 - Wings of Perception

This one's a bit intense. The eye is beaming in all directions like a charged kaleidoscope caught in a moment of transformation. A soft white dove hovers over the vivid pupil, not just as a symbol of peace but like it's caught in orbit around the chaos of colour. Every shade here feels alive. The iris ripples with neon energy from turquoise and magenta to golden orange, while the eyelids swirl with brush-like strokes that almost feel sculpted. It's hypnotic, but also oddly calming. This is the kind of stare that pulls you in while letting your mind wander far out. One of those pieces where the colours and movement say more than I ever could.

Artist's Note:
In this brightly painted dream I provided a source of an eye for one to behold the beauty of the colours of the kaleidoscope. The iris is a beautiful structure and is generally defined from blue, through purple, green, pink on the outside and a black or dark brown circle known as the pupil in the middle. Where each bar is extended from the centroid in multiple directions similar to beams of light, it symbolises emotion, creativeness and a great world view.

On the iris of the eye, there will be a white butterfly to give something levity, symbolising change, freedom and the desire to be beautiful. Transformative of the spectator, both the staged excessive eye and the gentle butterfly raise questions and contemplation about sight and light from the subjects.

The black colour is also nice because it creates such contrast to all secondary colours and most importantly to the eye. Instead what we are given is again a visually spectacular product which, as it so often with much postmodern film, begs the questions of how do we read what we are seeing, what is reality.

From the interpretative perspective, this image may be understood as the sight, the literal and the figurative sight as a way to perception of existence and aesthetics in the ‘veiled' beauty that can be unveiled and can admit to it.
